Dispersion Modeling

Picture
Atmospheric dispersion modeling is often required with new permit applications, permit renewals, or permit modifications. AERMOD has been adopted by the EPA as the preferred regulatory model for short-range air quality analyses (up to 50 kilometers). AERMOD is a steady-state Gaussian plume model based on planetary boundary layer turbulence structure and scaling concepts. Results from AERMOD are routinely used to determine compliance with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards in order to protect public health and welfare.

Our staff works with our clients and regulators to appropriately characterize the ambient air boundary, sources of air pollution, meteorological data, and proximate terrain following federal and state and local guidance.
